Hello ICC-Man,

1. These programs are demonstration of concept and technique. The partner must participate in the learning process.

2. You assume too much regarding the partner. Of course, any technique that is anticipated can be defeated easily by the assailant. Surprise is key to the efficacy of any technique. I have successfully used this technique, as have many others. Are we supposed to believe you ... or our experience?

3. I'm suspicious about the "aliveness" you suggest. If your partner is ready for this technique, you need to use a different technique.

4. If the attackers intent is to inflict damage -- at that moment -- he would already be in the process of striking. We are acting pre-emptively ... before the strike is thrown.

Thanks for you input. I suggest you view the program again -- and listen carefully to Michael. He said all of this in the show.

Best Wishes,

You have agood understanding of the mechanics of movement, however I must say that you seem to have missed an important point in your demonstration of a "down counter" finger/hand control motion. The opponent can move, pull finger away, and/or punch, etc. You should also consider that he may have a strong desire to inflict damage upon you. This intense behavior often causes an individual's pain receptors to be lessened. Your cahnces of pulling that technique against an opponent that wants to hurt you is very small. Your partner is too compliant...please train from "aliveness" and you will take on a new understanding of your art.
